The Digital Construction Award was presented at the Helsinki House of Culture on August 27th 2025, to the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, in recognition of exemplary work in the systematic development of operational planning and space information management.
The award was accepted by Marja Riihimäki, Planning Coordinator for Facility Services at the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa. In her acceptance speech, Riihimäki outlined the process initiated by Pirkanmaa in 2016, aimed at advancing more progressive space information management.
Previously scattered requirement and planning data—collected from spreadsheets, files, and message-based sources—has now been centralized using the Modelspace Rooms system, which Pirkanmaa has utilized for nearly a decade. A clear division of responsibilities, defined data structures, and ensured competence have resulted in an operational model where information related to the space programs of the county's construction projects is efficiently accessible to all project stakeholders throughout the entire project lifecycle.
The Digital Construction Award has been presented annually since 2018. The award is given to an organization or project that has promoted digitalization in the construction sector. The purpose is to highlight digital solutions and encourage the entire industry to take advantage of the opportunities digitalization offers.
